This course provides students with a complete overview of classical logic; the science of correct thinking. Students are introduced to some of the rudimentary building blocks of classical logical theory, including concepts, the theory of definitions, and the five universals using Shaykh Muḥammad Riḍā al-Muẓaffar’s textbook al-Manṭiq. In the latter modules, students embark on a detailed study of syllogistic reasoning in which they investigate syllogisms from both their formal and material aspects culminating in the study of the Five Arts.
