On the 11th January 2018, the Birmingham Council of Mosques (BCM) was launched at the Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham. The Inauguration was presided by many dignitaries including The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service and representatives from a number of mosques. The aim of BCM is to unite the various mosques and pool resources, ideas and strengths from these various organisations in order to give back to the community positively.

Shaykh Mahmood Dhalla from Al-Mahdi Institute presented very articulately at the inauguration, talking about the history and contribution of Muslims in Britain and particularly in Birmingham. This was followed by presentations by other members on the aims, structure and significance BCM has in Birmingham today.

The inauguration ended with an inspiring closing speech by Shaykh Arif Abdulhussain (Director of Al Mahdi Institute) who emphasised the need to value diverse opinions, to work together to better society, and to consider everyone as part of one human family.
