On 12th November AMI welcomed Dr. Chiara Pellegrino and Dr. Claudio Fontana who visited from the Oasis Foundation, based in Milan. The foundation fosters understanding between Christians and Muslims and analyses the way in which they interpret their faith in contemporary society. They also carry out research projects and publishes a biannual journal in English, French and Italian distributed both in the West as well as in countries with an Islamic majority.
Oasis conceives its work as a cultural expression of Christian faith and witness, serving the good life in a plural society. It prioritises open communication and dialogue with Muslims, considering it vital to talk with Muslims rather than about Muslims. In light of this objective, the purpose of the visit to Al-Mahdi Institute, was to gain an understanding of the reality of Islam in Great Britain, and a better understanding of Shi’i seminaries and Hawza education. The representatives of the Oasis Foundation were informed about AMI’s education programme and facilities and given a tour of the premises.
