Interfaith Service at AMI

On Sunday the 18th January 2015, The Al-Mahdi Institute held an Interfaith service inviting people of all faiths to unite for the unified purpose of worshipping God. Held in AMI’s Multi-faith chapel, the service consisted of Christian, Muslim and Jewish prayers and hymns with the theme of ”Becoming one family under God.” With an impressive turnout of over 50 people of all faiths and ages, the service was very well received by everyone.
Organised by David and Patricia Earle, the service started off with songs of worship such as ‘Morning Has Broken’ and ‘New song of Inspiration’ followed by Interfaith prayers consisting of the recitation of the holy Bible by Jean Douglas, recitation of the holy Quran by Yasmin Fazal and a recitation of the holy Torah by Bert Gerdin. After which, Maureen Fauxhall delighted the audience with her beautiful singing of some well-known hymns along with Sabira Karmali who sang an Islamic Nasheed about the holy Prophet. There were also extracts from each of the holy scriptures read out based on the theme, to reinforce the importance of all religions coming together to learn and understand more about different faiths. This was followed by more songs of worship, a sermon/discourse on the theme of ‘Becoming One family under God’ and ending with a religious offering and closing hymns and prayers.
