Exploring Extremism in Society: Transcription of the Symposium

The Al-Mahdi Institute held a public discussion on 18th June 2013 in response to the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich,  consisting of a panel of experts and community leaders from a cross section of West Midlands communities to explore the phenomenon of extremism in human thought and the role of ideologies – religious or otherwise – in its destructive manifestation.

The entire symposium was transcribed by a professional transcriber and sent to the speakers for their input and approval after which we are pleased to make the transcript available to the members of public.

The transcript of the symposium in PDF is available here.

The AMI hopes to distribute the hard copies of the transcript to the religious education departments of schools and colleges, theological departments of universities, government and non-government think-tanks, mosques, churches, synagogues and other religious institutions in order to disseminate the findings.
