22nd November saw 30 Baptist theological students from BMS world mission come to Al-Mahdi Institute for scriptural reasoning and lunch. BMS World Mission is a Christian mission organisation, working in around 30 countries on four continents.
The scriptural reasoning session involved texts from the Quran and Bible being read and discussed by the BMS and Al-Mahdi Institute students. The themes discussed were reconciliation and non-violent responses to hatred outlined in these holy text, and how similar or different the texts are in this discussion. The discussion was very enlightening for both sides as the fruitful discussions showed how much we have in common.
The BMS world mission and AMI students then had lunch together which was then followed by an AMI Research Seminar. The students rated their visit very highly, with possibilities for further collaboration between the two institutes
