Dr Ali-Reza Bhojani participates in Milad un Nabi Family Event at Mehfil e Abbas Birmingham

On Sunday 10th January 2016, Mehfil e Abbas Birmingham held a Milad un Nabi Family event in order to engage young families of the community to celebrate and combine family, community spirit, Islamic and social education in a moral fun Islamic environment. The basic underlying ethos was for children to be able to associate having fun with the love of the Ahlul Bayt.

The event bagan with children of the community leading the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by Dr Ali-Reza Bhojani who delivered an engaging talk entitled ‘Celebrating the family’. As Dr Bhojani was wrapping up, wading through the mass of green and white helium balloons, four quite eccentric clowns led the crowds in wishing a ‘Happy Birthday’ to our Holy Prophet (pbuh) with an amazing array of ‘Prophet themed’ birthday cakes.

The crowds were truly in the celebratory spirit as several activities ran simultaneously across the various halls of the Imambara, including a magician’s show, a candy cart and face painting, pass the parcel, arts and crafts and even an indoor bouncy castle. Following the congregational evening prayers, celebrations continued with present opening and a barbeque.
