On 13th July 2017, The Birmingham Council of Mosques held a meeting at Al Mahdi Institute. The BCM is a newly formed organisation with the aim of bringing the different mosques in Birmingham together, sharing resources, and learning from each other. The meeting was co-chaired by Shaykh Arif Abdulhussein and was also represented by AMI’s Shaykh Mahmood Dhalla and Dr Mohammad Khalid (director of Centre for Intra Muslim Studies)
Formalising the council, steps to take it forward including constitution, member fees amongst other things were discussed. The importance of working together was highlighted, as a collective body has so much more to contribute to the well being of the community.
After lunch a tour of the institute which included the Library, Gardens and Multi Purpose prayer hall was carried out. Participants were impressed by the work, both academic & outreach (inter/intra-faith) carried out by the Institute, and were eager to be involved in future events at the Institute.
