On 23rd October 2016 Striving Mums (SMUMS), a newly formed group by KSIMC Birmingham, held a workshop at AMI on self empowerment and dealing with post natal depression, lead by Nikhat Panjwani.
According to Action for Children’s chief executive Clare Tickell, “The lack of emotional well-being among our children and young people is undermining the foundations of any social policy to combat social exclusion, deprivation or lack of social mobility”; Children don’t grow strong on their own; adult support is needed. The workshop aimed to enhance the emotional well-being of mothers and thus enable them to identify and manage difficult emotions and increase their self esteem.
The workshop involved;
– team and individual activities
– discussing current challenges that are commonly faced in the community
– a detailed lecture on the importance of self empowerment especially after becoming a parent by trained professional, Nikhat Panjwani
