"It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards the East and the West, but righteousness is this that one should believe in Allah and the last day and the angels and the Book and the prophets, and give away wealth out of love for Him to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and the beggars and for (the emancipation of) the captives..." (Al-Baqarah: 177)

The Al-Mahdi Institute outreach programme engages in various humanitarian social and economic activities. The programme in essence is an attempt to assist and aid human development and service both directly and indirectly, through established and recognised charities and related organisations. The intention of these activities is not only aiding financially but to also assist in guidance and advice and also promote skills by proving networks and contacts of dedicated and committed professionals to are willing to volunteer time and effort to assist others, this does not related to Muslims only but to humanity at large.

With these objectives clearly established, the Institute implements these ideals and goals via a number of programmes:

  • The outreach programme comprises of many facets such as providing humanitarian aid, meaning providing food, clothing and shelter for the needy.
  • Interfaith and intrafaith programmes aims to provide public engagement and social cohesion on matters related to the pluralist society in which we live in.
  • The community service programmes seeks to aid volunteerism, assisting the youth and women in capacity building and life skill learning programmes.
