Dr Sarfraz Jeraj delivers a seminar on Mental Health Awareness for AMI students and faculty

On Thursday 5th October 2017, Dr Sarfraz Jeraj delivered a seminar on an 'Introduction to Mental Health - What to look out for and what to do' for the benefit of AMI students and faculty. The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the issues surrounding Mental health and covered the following aspects;

- The definition and concept of mental health as used in the UK

- The main categories of mental health problems

- How to recognise some common signs of poor mental health 

- How to seek professional help if required and treatments available

The seminar also allowed attendees to assess their current mental state and equipped them with the necessary skills to not only help themselves in such situations but also others who may be struggling with with mental health issues.

Dr Sarfraz Jeraj works professionally as a chartered clinical psychologist in adult mental health services in the NHS. He is currently the lead for capacity building for the Council of European Jamaats and has been involved in leadership, mentoring and personal development training in the Muslim community and other communities for over 3 years. Sarfraz is also qualified MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) practitioner.
